Summary: Panasonic to show off Lumix 3D prototype at Berlin’s IFA consumer electronics show.
In addition to this morning’s announcement of a new dual-lens 3D camcorder for prosumers, Panasonic also announced that it will be adding a dual-lens 3D model to its Lumix digital still camera lineup this winter. Though images had not been released as of this writing, Panasonic plans to show off a prototype of the new Lumix 3D at the IFA 2011 consumer electronics show kicking off in Berlin on Friday.
The new camera will shoot both 2D and 3D photos, as well as HD videos in both 2D and 3D, using two 4x zoom lenses with folded optics — all of which makes it sound a bit like the Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 digital still camera.
While the press release indicates that you’ll be able to view photos and videos on a Viera 3D TV, there’s no mention of whether the new camera will include a 3D-capable LCD like the Panasonic HDC-Z10000 camcorder announced today.
